7/20/2023 0 Comments Adobe adobe camera raw resolution![]() 3CCD is superior, it demands more resources from man and machine, like large format did in the film days. If you use SFD mode on Sigma cameras you get an image with more detail than a medium format digital camera. This problem is barely visible on ISO 100. The whole discussion ends with ISO, there Bayer has less issues, since three CCDs means three times the noise. On a full frame Foveon sensor you would get an image with resolution equal to a 150MP Bayer sensor with same pixel size. An APS-C Foveon sensor generates equal information as a full frame Bayer sensor post interpolation on the Foveon sensor. Loss in sharpness after interpolation can be compared to the Bayer image straight from sensor. The difference is that when you interpolate a Foveon image there is a calculation made from a complete depth, so there are few or none artifacts. A 20MP Foveon sensor has in practice 60MP. Then you're referring to resolution in width, not depth. The incompleteness only becomes more visible. What you all are doing is putting lipstick on a pig, slaves to companies using the dripping machine on you. If your image is great you won't care about resolution. ![]() If ISO is the priority then use a 1CMOS camera and ignore quality. Only 3CCD is a complete digital image, the only 3CCD sensor for stills is Foveon. With a 1CMOS sensor you only have a crippled image to work with, efforts will be wasted to hide that your tool is insufficient. Resolution is a question of depth, not width, but if you have depth the computer can generate width. ![]() With Bayer it just looks like artificial mush. You can print images 100x70″ large with Foveon. Bayer is interpolated from the get go, colors not real on images made with one sensor, added through an algorithm. Looks a bit weird with sharp windows and fuzzy leaves. Make sharper vertical and horizontal edges. * Bayer interpolation algorithms are strange. * Bayer interpolation lowers the local contrast. You might get unwanted rainbows and other stuff. RGB cameras usually results in warm and cold images in natural light. Generally, Foveon sensor have a hard time distinguish between green and magenta. Bayer color mosaic images and Foveon based ones look. So take a tour around the studio scene and see what you think, and watch this space for some testing with real world Super Resolution image comparisons in the coming weeks. ![]() As you might expect, you don't quite get benchmark-camera levels of detail (and we wanted to do Super Resolution on the Phase One image, but at the time of this writing, the resulting file exceeds the feature's 500MP resolution limit). (Also, try hitting the 'Comp' button at the top to see what the Super Resolution files look like scaled back to the lowest common pixel count.)Īnd just for fun, we wanted to see what super resolution does on those higher-megapixel bodies as well. We can't bring one of those modern camera bodies back in time to re-shoot our favorite images, and so for many situations, this feature will absolutely breathe new life into older files. Modern, high-resolution bodies with quality lenses will beat the algorithm anywhere you look, but that's not necessarily the point. Of course you'll notice that this feature isn't magic. In some of our other informal testing with real-world images, we've found areas of more natural textures seem to look pretty good, so be sure to check out those areas of the test scene.

Graeber discusses Marcel Mauss’ theory of the gift as an alternative to orthodox economic assumptions about the centrality of markets and “exchange”, and Pierre Clastres’ arguments about societies that explicitly sought to avoid the formation of a State. Graeber is far more interesting when he writes about what anthropology can offer anarchism: a wider range of both social theory and observation of social practices than is available in orthodox Western theory and philosophy alone. It’s not that Graeber doesn’t know that “the discipline we know today was made possible by horrific schemes of conquest, colonization, and mass murder” (96) but he seems to think that the “vast archive of human experience” possessed by anthropologists is uninflected by these origins, and only needs to be shared more publically in order to be efficacious. Graeber’s claim that anthropology has had “an affinity to anarchism from the very beginning”, because of anthropology’s “keen awareness of the very range of human possibilities” (13) is disingenuous at best, given the tangled nature of anthropology’s origins (as both an expression of and revolt against European colonialism), not to mention its institutional investments today. Most obviously, this is apparent in the fact that Graeber never questions the interests and biases of “downwardly-studying” ethnographic researchers or participant-observers themselves. Despite all his rote Foucault-bashing, and sneering at mainstream academics as “people who like to think of themselves as political radicals even though all they do is write essays likely to be read by a few dozen other people in an institutional environment” (71), he in fact buys into the authority of normative academic “knowledge” much more than I think is necessary or justified. For I fear that here Graeber overly idealizes academia, and the discipline of anthropology in particular. This is the most upfront side of the book, but also its least convincing one. What anarchism can offer anthropology, according to Graeber, is a way out of academicist impasses, a way that anthropology might change the world, rather than merely interpret it (to use a Marxian formulation to which Graeber might well be averse here he soft-pedals the Marxist slant that was more apparent in his previous - and more traditionally academic - book, Toward an Anthropological Theory of Value). Each, he says, has a lot to offer the other. Graeber wants to ally the discipline of anthropology with the anarchist currents that have shown up, most recently, in the anti-globalization movement. ![]() David Graeber’s Fragments of an Anarchist Anthropology is filled with interesting and provocative ideas. 7/20/2023 0 Comments Tiny pretty thingsBrooks is reluctant to support Shane as a mentor out of fear of this misconception. I see that Yamaha has a stand (without double center brace) but it seems no different then the others, though I’d hope THEY would make a HD stand that would conform to its own rubber feet configurations.ĭisclaimer, I actually own a Motif XF8 rather than the MOXF8, though I’ve played a fair amount on a MOXF8. Should I stop worrying about the center of the keyboard being un-supported with a keyboard so heavy (and I play hard.) Does it matter if the outer feet don’t touch anything. So, again, I’m back to having to make some kind of full length wood or heavy rubber plank. I have the “table” type by Onstage that has four individual legs which works (with the center plywood plank described above) for my MOXF6 but when I put the MOXF8 on it, the keyboard is literally 1 inch too long to have the feet actually sit on the metal platform. ![]() (We can leave out X stand type, which are useless if you have more than one pedal.) I’ve done things like add a piece of plywood or a thick rubber mat for the outer little feet to sit on and to give some support to the center of the keyboard. ![]() I’ve tried different styles and manufacturers. And there is a rubber foot or two in the center of the larger keyboards that seems to never actually have ANY support. I now have another MOXF but the 88 key version I’ve owned, in the distant past, an ES, an S90, and MOX8 but finding a stand that is sturdy and portable enough for gigging and WIDE enough for the little rubber feet to sit on (which would seem preferable then have them hang over the edge, right?) has always been the issue. 7/20/2023 0 Comments Mahjong 24Mahjong ConnectĪlso known as Mahjong Solitaire, Mahjong Connect is a variant of the game which requires players to clear a board of tiles in order to win. 7/20/2023 0 Comments Silver screen paint projector![]() Unlike white, grey doesn’t reflect all the light coming from the projector. If you opt for grey in lieu of white, you might have a better viewing experience. So if you do choose to go for a white screen, make sure you are taking into account factors like ambient lighting, viewing angles, and black/natural contrast. This makes for a less-than-ideal viewing experience. Since black is the absence of light, white screens that reflect the maximum light don’t display them as truly as other screen colors. Another factor that comes into play is how the projector represents the color black. If you are not front and center, colors can get distorted and washed out easily. It is also worth noting that higher gain screens tend to have limited viewing angles. While white screens can produce some stunning images, they are limited for use in only truly dark rooms. If you have a room with lots of ambient lighting, this means the screen will also absorb and reflect that light as well. ![]() ![]() ![]() But white, as the most reflective of all colors, reflects all light. You may stop and say, well, this makes a white screen the best choice. This is important to understand as the higher the gain, the more light reflects off the screen. We measure gain by finding the vantage point where the screen appears at its brightest. The gain number represents a ratio of light reflected from the surface from a light source like your projector. Basically, the gain is the measure of the reflectivity of a surface. This has to do with a screen and projector property called gain. They are the best at reflecting light, so they should be the best for a home theatre set up, right? While in some instances this holds true, white screens can be troublesome in certain environments. You might consider a white projector screen to be the end of the discussion. This is important to note as our next topic is using a white or grey screen. In contrast, black would be the lack of color. White is the combination of all these colors at once. The light that is reflected back to the audience is, as a result, blue. For example, the projector will block out the other two colors in that area to display a blue. The combination of these colors makes up the entire spectrum of visible light. We already know that they utilize the screen to project light, but they also produce colors using red, green, and blue light. You should also have a basic understanding of how a projector works. The color of the screen plays a big role in dictating the viewing angle, brightness, and contrast. You see, the task of a projector screen is to reflect light back to the audience from the projector itself. While you might think that choosing a color is an easy task, a lot of variables come into play that you should be aware of. When it comes to projector screens, there are a lot of choices out there (that’s why we have another guide). To learn more about choosing a projector wall color, and other things you need to know before you paint, read on! Using a Projector on White or Grey Walls To get the most out of your new home theatre, you’ll need to look at the environment and projector to come to a conclusion on what the right color for your wall is. But what is the best color to choose?Ī projector will work on a wall and for the best viewing experience, pick a special projector screen paint and find the right color. At the same time, the mutated cells ramp down a molecule needed to turn these genes’ messenger RNAs into the cancer-causing proteins that enable unrestrained tumor growth and survival. Sujata Jana, PhD, a postdoctoral fellow in Hsieh’s lab, found that mutation of a key tumor-suppressing gene, called ARID1A, in bladder cells ramps up a suite of cancer-causing genes. “We’ve also showed that (in preclinical models of bladder cancer) we can reinstall this emergency brake.” “We think what we have defined is a new tumor-suppressive mechanism,” said Andrew Hsieh, MD, the Fred Hutch physician-scientist who studies bladder and prostate cancers and treats patients with these diseases. In a study published April 20 in Cancer Cell, the team also manipulated the brake to halt the growth of human bladder tumors in mice, suggesting that the newly discovered molecular fail-safe could be a target for future bladder cancer therapies. Now, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center scientists have discovered a completely new - and counterintuitive - “emergency brake” that bladder cells use to stave off tumors even when cancer-promoting genes are turned on. Understanding natural anti-tumor processes could help researchers develop better approaches to treat or prevent cancer. “Social proof is becoming a decision maker and breaker, as younger demographics look to their peers for transparent endorsements,” Coveo said.Over the decades, scientists have revealed many strategies that keep normal cells from becoming cancerous. Reviews and recommendations from other shoppers are also valuable. Sites can use artificial intelligence to provide insights about how many others have purchased a product that day, or even how many currently have it in their carts. Such data, along with information about how other consumers are transacting, can encourage shoppers to buy. “A person taking time to shop on your site-finding items and deliberating whether they are the right ones-needs to know if there are just two items remaining,” Coveo said. A consumer browsing a brand’s e-commerce site should have access to critical inventory insights, such as whether product is running low. Mindfully using consumer data is key to “boosting trust and creating a motivator to buy,” Coveo added. Coveo said 22 percent of respondents complain that they don’t have the option to see if stock is available in local stores. This means retailers must communicate product availability information, which requires implementing these cross-channel backend inventory data systems. Omnichannel remains top of mind, with shoppers showing “a strong preference for researching products before purchasing.” The majority (79 percent) do so online and using social media, and 37 percent look at products online before purchasing in store. Improving the online experience can also affect on a brand’s physical retail business, according to Coveo. They’re bothered by problems with product discovery (46 percent), and no options to filter their search (11 percent). Gen Z consumers are the harshest critics, with 96 percent reporting poor experiences. However, 92 percent said they often encounter issues online, from poor site performance or slow loading time (33 percent) to trouble finding what they’re looking for (32 percent), missing product information (27 percent), disorganized navigation (26 percent), lack of mobile-friendly site design (25 percent) and irrelevant recommendations (24 percent). ![]() ![]() Ninety-three percent of respondents said they have high expectations of the online shopping experience, and expect it to be superior to purchasing in stores. “If the shoppers pony up, retailers need to as well.” It also noted that in-session personalization using AI can provide targeted product recommendations even if shoppers only log in at checkout-or not at all. “In other words, retailers need to make it worth their while to share that data,” Coveo said. Over half (52 percent) said they’re willing to share their data in exchange for better deals and offers. The right incentives still work, however. That makes personalization, like offering targeted promotions and product discovery opportunities, more difficult. “This means the majority of a shopper’s buying journey is anonymous,” Coveo said. Nearly half of respondents (48 percent) said they’ve fully abandoned their digital carts when prompted to create an account. Seventy-two percent said they only log into a site at checkout, while 32 percent opt for guest check out. ![]() Another 68 percent are concerned about the way online retailers will use their daya. Notably, most digital shoppers (57 percent) are only vaguely aware of how much data they share when buying online, from Gen X to Gen Z. |
